I just have to say that, no matter what exercise modality you choose… you will not make your muscles long and lean!!
I’ve seen ads telling you to do certain exercises, to make your muscles long and lean. Garbage! Your muscles will not change their length just because of the type of exercise you do. The only way you can change the length of your muscle is through surgery. Even then, I still don’t think it’s possible.
You would have to move the attachment points of the muscle. NOT going to happen!!
Exercising with resistance will “tone” the muscle, making it tight (semi contracted) and
strong. Stretching will not lengthen the muscles either. It’ll help for other things, but it wot make your muscles longer and leaner.
Take a look at the people who are advertising that type of muscle. Most likely, they are already very lean … genetically. Their muscles might look long, but the muscle attachments didn’t move.
Sorry for the rant. I saw some ads and had to get this off my chest. If you want your muscles to look long and lean, you can reduce your body fat and do some resistance training, but also, remember, if you are 5’4″, you won’t look as “long and lean” as someone who is 5’10”.
It’s just like, everyone has six pack abs. It’s just some are working on a keg or there’s a load of laundry in it… (Two of my fav come-backs). 🙂
